Indonesian, done right

What we get right in Indonesian that generic translation misses

Indonesian, not Malay

Indonesian and Malay share a base, but everyday words differ. “Office” is kantor in Indonesia and pejabat in Malaysia, where pejabat in Indonesian means a public official. We use Indonesian vocabulary and spelling, so Indonesian readers never get Malay wording.

Contracts in Bahasa Indonesia

Indonesian law requires agreements with Indonesian parties to be in Indonesian, so contracts with foreign companies are usually bilingual. We set both versions side by side and keep clause numbers and defined terms matched.

Formal or friendly address

Indonesian uses Anda for polite address, kamu for casual, and Bapak or Ibu for respect. Apps and campaigns often use kamu; contracts and manuals use Anda. We agree on the register with you before we start.

Rupiah and number formats

Indonesia writes Rp 1.500.000 and 2,5 kg: dots for thousands, commas for decimals. Swapped separators turn a price into a different number. We format every amount, date, and unit the Indonesian way.

Single names

Many Indonesians have one name only, and many have no family name. Forms that require a first and last name create errors. We keep names exactly as on the passport or KTP ID card and spell them the same in every file.

No tenses, no plurals

Indonesian verbs don’t change for tense, and nouns rarely mark plurals. Time comes from words like sudah (already) and akan (will). In contracts, manuals, and timelines, we add those words so a deadline or quantity can’t be misread.

Indonesian translation questions

How much does Indonesian translation cost?

Translation plus revision starts at $0.06 per word. The rate depends on the language pair and subject, and certified documents start at $20 per page. Rush delivery adds 25%, and your fixed quote sets the price and delivery date before we start.

Do you translate Indonesian documents into English?

Yes. Our Indonesian team translates contracts, company records, certificates, and reports into English, and a second linguist checks every name and number against the original.

Can you translate bilingual contracts with Indonesian parties?

Yes. We translate the agreement into Indonesian and set both versions side by side, with clause numbers and defined terms matched. Your lawyers decide which version prevails.

How long does an Indonesian translation take?

Our Indonesian team translates up to 12,000 words per day. Larger projects are delivered in batches, and rush delivery is available at +25%.

Can you localize our app or website into Indonesian?

Yes. We translate strings in JSON, XLIFF, or your localization platform, keep placeholders and tags intact, and check text length in the layout. Indonesian often runs longer than English, so we flag strings that will be cut off.

Do you use machine or AI translation?

Only if you ask for it. By default, every Indonesian file is translated by a native human linguist and revised by a second one.
