How we choose and check Ukrainian linguists

Ukrainian, done right
What we get right in Ukrainian that generic translation misses
Ukrainian, not Russian
Ukrainian and Russian share the Cyrillic alphabet, but Ukrainian has letters Russian lacks (і, ї, є, ґ) and much of its vocabulary is different. Sending Russian to Ukrainian readers is a serious misstep. Every file goes to a native Ukrainian linguist, never a Russian translator.
The 2019 spelling rules
Ukraine adopted a new official spelling standard in 2019, changing rules for loanwords, prefixes, and some endings. Older translation memories still carry the old forms. We follow the current standard and update your glossary.
Kyiv, not Kiev
Place names follow Ukrainian, not Russian, forms: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa. Names in Latin letters follow Ukraine’s official transliteration. We match passports and the spellings you already use.
Names with patronymics
Ukrainian full names include a patronymic from the father’s first name, such as Oleksandr Ivanovych Shevchenko. Official documents use all three parts. We keep the order and spelling consistent across forms and records.
Formal or friendly address
Ukrainian uses the formal Ви, capitalized in letters and direct address, and the friendly ти. Public services and contracts use Ви; apps and youth campaigns may use ти. We agree on the register with you first.
Three plural forms
Ukrainian nouns change with numbers: 1 файл, 2 файли, 5 файлів. Software strings built for English plurals break. We fill every plural form in your files and check them in context.

Ukrainian translation questions
How much does Ukrainian translation cost?
Translation plus revision starts at $0.08 per word. The rate depends on the language pair and subject, and certified documents start at $25 per page. Rush delivery adds 25%, and your fixed quote sets the price and delivery date before we start.
Do you translate Ukrainian and Russian separately?
Yes. Ukrainian and Russian are separate languages, and each goes to its own native linguists. If one project needs both, we translate them in parallel with a shared glossary so names and terms match.
Do you provide Ukrainian interpreters?
Yes. We provide Ukrainian interpreting by phone and video for health, legal, and community appointments, and for business meetings. Tell us the date, length, and subject, and your quote will confirm the interpreter and the cost.
How long does a Ukrainian translation take?
Our Ukrainian team translates up to 12,000 words per day. Larger projects are delivered in batches, and rush delivery is available at +25%.
Do you translate Ukrainian documents into English?
Yes. Our Ukrainian team translates contracts, company records, certificates, and interview transcripts into English. Names follow the official transliteration or your passport spellings, and a second linguist checks every name and number.
Can you localize software into Ukrainian?
Yes. We translate strings in JSON, XLIFF, or your localization platform, fill all three plural forms, keep placeholders intact, and check text length in the interface.
